Jo is widely recognised for her role as co-host on Melbourne’s number 1 rating FM breakfast radio program, Fox FM’s ‘The Matt and Jo Show’. The breakfast show continues to dominate ratings after extraordinarily successful years in 2006, 2007 & 2008, and they have picked up where they left off in 2009. ‘The Matt and Jo Show’ attracts more listeners than any other breakfast program in Australia. Their success resulting in an audience of approximately 580,000 listeners each morning with another 300,000 or so listener’s tuning into the programs 1pm daily replays. In 2007, Jo also took on the huge task of competing in Channel Seven’s ‘It Takes Two’, where she sang in a duet with singer Anthony Callea against other Australian celebrities, in a singing showdown backed by alive band. She got all the way to the Grand Final, coming runner-up, but not before wowing Australian audiences with her and Anthony’s rendition of ‘The Prayer’.
Over the years, Jo’s ability, infectious personality and charming good nature has led to an expanding list of successful television roles with the ABC, Comedy Channel, Network 10, Seven and Nine Networks. During this time she has been a regular panelist on Channel 10’s ‘Good News Week’, ‘The Panel’ and ‘Australia’s Brainiest Quiz Show’, Channel 7’s ‘Good as Gold’, ‘Thank God You’re Here’, ‘Sunday Brunch’ and Channel Nine’s ‘Clever’, as well as hosting the small business program ‘Bread’ and the short-lived ‘Yasmin’s Getting Married’.
Brought up in Victoria along with her two sisters, Jo had always wanted to be an actor, and over came shyness by becoming the class joker. This passion for being in the spotlight has remained with Jo and is evidenced by her chosen degree-a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Drama and Theatre Studies which she completed at Monash University.
Jo started telling jokes as a teenager to make friends at a new school. Her exhibitionism took her into studying acting, where she kept people laughing, even in the dying scenes. Taking the hint, Jo began writing and performing Stand-up and Sketch Comedy in 1992, a talent that has taken her all around the country and overseas.
It was while doing stand-up in a dingy Collingwood pub about 5 years ago that she was discovered by Fox FM. She started in the Sunday night shift before building her success with the breakfast show to become a popular radio personality with Fox FM’s Matt & Jo Show.
Jo has graced the film industry in a number of short films since 1999 and has since been involved in various VCA short films with an on-going interest in the industry.
Jo also supplements her television and radio hosting by applying her radiant personality and charisma to MC corporate functions. She also is an ambassador for the Ronald McDonald House and supports The Lighthouse Foundation and the Salvation Army. In 2009, Jo became a Mum to her new born daughter, Willow Charlotte, and is enjoying the joys of motherhood.
